When it comes to learning complex information, many students do well in classroom-style group settings, enjoying a sense of comradery and using their peers' questions as a springboard for increasing their own knowledge and comprehension. Other students, however, know they do not learn best in the company of others. They worry about holding the group back and feel anxious about slowing down the pace of studying; alternatively, they may experience frustration if they have mastered a particular concept but must wait to move on until others in the group have similarly absorbed the information. If you know you learn best in an environment where you are able to work at your own pace, focusing on the aspects of preparing for the LSAT that are most pertinent to you, we encourage you to contact us today to learn more about our private tutoring options.

We are pleased to offer industry-leading resources from the brightest and most dedicated tutors in the test prep business.

The LSAT is purposefully designed to assess the skills required for the first year of law school. These skills include reading comprehension, reasoning, and writing. LSAT scores fall in a range between 120 to 180, with the median score being approximately 152. A median score, however, will not be enough to secure acceptance to a top-tier law school, and competitive scores generally fall in the 160s to 170s. The Law School Admission Council (LSAC) is the organization responsible for the administration of the LSAT, and they regularly track and report statistical information about those who take the test, analyzing their information as a whole while also dividing test-takers into subgroups. According to the LSAC, among the most respected law schools, successful applicants have an LSAT score in the 170s. In order to be competitive for the highest-ranking law schools, it is necessary to do well on the LSAT. We at Manhattan Review can help you master all sections of the test, improving your reading comprehension and reasoning abilities while also strengthening your critical writing skills.

If you are searching for the most effective way to maximize your LSAT preparation, consider working with one of our respected and dedicated tutors. Meet a Calgary LSAT Tutor: Timothy K.

Timothy K. has always been fascinated by words and was an avid reader from an early age. "I just couldn't believe how so many people could take the same words and use them to create completely different stories," he shares. "I was the person in English class who loved learning about parts of a sentence and how you could change a word by altering a few letters. To be able to change the meaning of the information being shared…that was powerful." In high school, Timothy began as a contributing reporter to his school's online newspaper before eventually working his way to an editorial position, as well as writing a column on common grammatical mistakes that quickly became a popular resource among his fellow students. Timothy also volunteered as a peer tutor in his school's learning center, helping those who didn't find the rules of writing as interesting as he did. "I never expected to enjoy helping others improve their writing," he shares, "but helping them really fine-tune their idea, then find a way to explain it clearly and succinctly was incredible, and I knew I wanted a career that somehow combined words with helping people express themselves."

Timothy grew up in South Carolina, and thanks to his high grades, impressive extracurricular activities, and a very impressive SAT score, he was accepted to Clemson University where he double majored in English and education. During an extra-credit seminar his sophomore year, Timothy had the chance to hear from a visiting professor who also happened to be a lawyer specializing in mergers, acquisitions, and contract negotiation. Timothy was amazed to learn there was a job that revered words as much as he did, and according to him, "That's when I knew I wanted to be a lawyer. Not the kind on tv, arguing a case in front of a jury, but someone who worked behind the scenes to make things run smoothly, at least on paper." Timothy had obtained a part-time position as a tutor in his university's learning center, but in order to prepare for the LSAT, he decided to work with a tutor himself. "I wanted to be as prepared as possible," he says, "and I also wanted to work on my timing and pacing skills." Timothy's diligence was rewarded with a very high LSAT score that earned him a place at Columbia University, respected world-wide for their contracts and commercial law program. While it was a big change from South Carolina, Timothy packed his suitcase and headed off to New York.

After graduating from Columbia, Timothy received countless offers of employment from large law firms around the world, but he chose to work with a smaller company that specialized in contract law between international oil companies. The position required him to relocate to Calgary, and Milo easily settled into his new position, doing very well for himself for nearly a decade. After a while, however, he began to miss the sense of fulfillment he'd experienced tutoring others and helping them learn. With years of professional tutoring experience behind him, Timothy was excited to learn about Manhattan Review's Calgary office, and he was quickly welcomed to the team. Timothy's students appreciate his extensive real-world experience, as well as his professional connections and ability to remember details without losing sight of the bigger picture. When Timothy isn't guiding future lawyers to LSAT success, he can be found coaching his son's soccer team, hiking in Bragg Creek Provincial Park, and visiting his favorite local bookstore.
