Meet a Calgary GMAT Tutor: Jennifer E.

Jennifer E. was born and raised in Seattle and never imagined living anywhere other than the Pacific Northwest. She and her family took yearly trips to visit her aunt and uncle in Calgary, and Jennifer soon came to look forward to these trips, which offered something different from the overcast skies of her hometown. Jennifer describes herself as someone who "always enjoyed working with numbers," and she proudly obtained a bachelor's degree in finance from Gonzaga University. Knowing she wanted a career in international business and financial information systems, Jennifer didn't want to leave anything to chance when it came to preparing for the GMAT, and she so enrolled in an online prep course through Manhattan Review. "I loved the flexibility of online learning," she shares, "especially since my schedule was often unpredictable between classes and working in the tutoring center part-time." Jennifer's hard work and diligence were rewarded when she scored in the 97^th percentile, earning herself numerous offers of admission to leading business programs across the United States. 

While sad to leave her supportive family, Jennifer ultimately chose to attend the prestigious and highly competitive Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. During her graduate program, Jennifer began taking on side work as a tutor, "mostly because word somehow spread that I was good with numbers and good at explaining them to people," she laughs. "I never expected to enjoy teaching so much, but it was really exciting to see people grasp a new concept and know I had a role in helping them get there." Jennifer graduated with distinction and was offered a variety of exciting positions with both local and international companies, and she was thrilled to accept a position with a large natural gas company that allowed her to relocate to Calgary, which she remembered fondly from so many family vacations. While she enjoyed working in finance for more than a decade, after a while Jennifer began to search for additional ways to make a more impactful difference in the world on a smaller, more personal, scale. She completed a master's degree in teaching through an online program from the University of Idaho, determined to help others enjoy the success she had earned.
