Meet a Champaign IELTS Tutor: Alexis J.

Alexis J. grew up in Hong Kong, then moved to the United States with her family when she was eleven. From a very young age, Alexis dreamed of becoming an actress and performing in the theater. She was active in her high school drama club and won starring roles in numerous plays and musicals. Alexis obtained a very high SAT score, and combined with her extracurricular activities and impressive grades, she was able to attend the University of California at Los Angeles. After graduating, Alexis accepted a job as a drama teacher at a private high school. She also went on to obtain a master's degree in education, as well as a TESOL certificate, from the University of Southern California. Alexis hoped to one day combine her passion for drama with her desire to help others achieve their own successes.

After a few years, Alexis's husband was offered a promotion if he was willing to relocate to Champaign. Alexis found a new position teaching drama and English at a public high school. Wanting to help ESL students obtain their own college educations, she soon joined the team at Manhattan Review. She loves helping students master the English they need to excel on tests such as the TOEFL and IELTS. Students consistently praise her supportive teaching style, as well as her time management tips.
