Meet a Champaign TOEFL Tutor: Ilsa H.

Ilsa H. has always had a passion for languages. Originally from Bern, she moved to the United States to attend college, and she graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor's degree in linguistics. During her undergraduate program, she worked as a tutor in her university's learning center and enjoyed helping others master information that came easily to her. She then obtained a master's degree in international relations from Johns Hopkins University, as well as a TESOL certificate from American University. Soon after graduating, she was hired as a translator by an international tech company with offices around the world. Ilsa speaks four languages, including English, and she was happy to have the chance to help people communicate better in a corporate environment.

While Ilsa enjoyed her work, she also wanted to support others seeking to obtain their own academic successes, and she knew the importance of a quality education. After years traveling for her job, she settled down in Champaign. When she learned Manhattan Review had a local office, she applied to help students prepare for the TOEFL and other standardized tests assessing their knowledge of English. We were thrilled to welcome Ilsa to the team, and her classroom-style courses fill up almost as quickly as they are announced.
