Meet a Ghent IELTS Tutor: Bertl Y.

Bertl Y. grew up in Bruge, then moved to the United States for college. Realizing how important an understanding of the English language could be, Bertl hoped to one day help others achieve their own success by becoming a professional English teacher. He majored in English at Cornell University, where he also worked as a tutor for five semesters. After graduating from Cornell, Bertl obtained a master's degree in teaching, as well as a TESOL certificate, from the University of California at Los Angeles. He then happily accepted a job with the city of Los Angeles, teaching English to ESL learners.

After a few years, Bertl was invited to teach at a private school in Ghent. He was thrilled to return to his home country, and shortly after relocating he joined the team at Manhattan Review as an instructor. Bertl loves helping students master the English they need to excel on tests such as the TOEFL and IELTS. His courses fill up almost as soon as they are announced, and students praise his supportive personality, as well as his teaching techniques and extensive knowledge of the English language. When he isn't helping future college students prepare for their own academic successes, Bertl can be found hiking and working in his garden.
