Meet a New Orleans GMAT Tutor: Johnny W.
Johnny, our Emory University grad with a degree in Business Administration and Management, ventured outside his home state of Georgia and landed in The Big Easy. He'll tell you, "But not too far," with a laugh, as he will always be passionate about living in the South. Although he misses the Peach State, Johnny has fallen in love with New Orleans and all it has to offer.
After he obtained his MBA from Louisiana State University, Johnny was sold. Or perhaps it was the New Orleans Saints football team that won him over. Four years of watching them from the sidelines, Johnny's first purchase after school were two season passes for him and any number of his friends. To decide which friend to take each Sunday, he sends out a text with a math question and the first to respond with the correct answer wins the seat. Even when he isn't tutoring, Johnny loves keeping his mind (and his friends for that matter) sharp as a tack.
Being a football fan means Johnny understands the importance of patience and practice. He also knows that no two students are alike; just like wide receivers. Therefore, Johnny gets to know each student so he can create an individual study plan for each one. He knows the GMAT is a giant stepping-stone for his students and takes his exam prep tutoring seriously. He knows the secret to success is practice, practice, and practice. He also knows too much practice and not enough fun can hinder top scores. Therefore, throughout teaching the world class Manhattan Review course syllabus and techniques, Johnny will throw a football around to keep students on their toes. They can't pass the ball until they ask him a question back, so students are teaching each other at the same time. The results are high-scoring GMAT champions!
Johnny doesn't like to stay idle for too long. If he isn't in the classroom or at the football fiend, he is training for his next Ironman competition. The race includes a 2.1-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and a 26.2-mile run. A feat like this takes true dedication. His determination to finish this juggernaut of a race is only matched by his desire for his students to triumph on test day.
