I wanted to thank you for teaching my class and being such a dedicated instructor. When I first started studying for the GRE I was doing it from complete scratch as I had not done this type of math in many years. I was scoring in the low 300's, and was having trouble with some of the quick math necessary to do well on the test. Our class helped me figure out how to break down problems into commonly found concepts and to quickly do the computation to answer them (by, for example, factoring). I took the GRE this past Friday and scored a 720 in math -- much higher than I had originally hoped for when I started studying. I know your going the extra mile to help, both in tutoring and in class, really made a difference to my score. Thanks again!

Meet an Ann Arbor GRE Tutor: Walter W.
Walter, a local Ann Arbor academic success story, can be found passing down the torch to future incoming freshman. He moved away and graduated from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University, at the top of his class, with a concentration in Consulting, before moving back home. He is a self-proclaimed 'forever learner' and this is evident in his teaching style. Walter's GRE tutoring strategy resembles the beliefs of his alma mater, particularly, the student to teacher ratio, which they restrict to 5:1. If Walter has a larger class, he will deconstruct it into smaller groups for a more hands-on, interactive learning approach.
In the classroom, Walter feels the smaller groups are perfect for brainstorming, group problem solving techinques and learning from each other. The best way to learn is to teach, he says, and his students take this to heart. Being responsible for another's learning is a powerful motivator, which pushes his students to reach their maximum potential. He compares the human brain to well-kept engine when he says, 'The more power put it, the further and faster you can go. Education is power, and the more you invest in it, the further you will go.'
On his own time, Walter is a car afficiando. He has a 1964 1/2, cherry red, Ford Mustang with glass packs and a standard H shift that is his baby. He takes her out on summer nights and heads turn. He polishes the custom paint job until she shines.
