We are pleased to offer a variety of options when it comes to preparing for the LSAT, and we're certain to have one that's just right for you. Many students do incredibly well learning in classroom-style group settings, enjoying a sense of comradery and using their peers' questions as a springboard for increasing their own knowledge and comprehension. Other students, however, know they do not learn best in the company of others. They worry about holding the group back and feel anxious about slowing down the pace of studying; alternatively, they may experience frustration if they have mastered a particular concept but must wait to move on until others in the group have absorbed the information. If you know you learn best in an environment where you are able to work at your own pace, focusing on the aspects of LSAT preparation that are most pertinent to you, without the distractions posed by a group learning format, we encourage you to contact us today to learn more about our private tutoring options. For many students, one-on-one attention is the most useful way to grasp and retain information, and we look forward to creating a customized program of study unique to you and your LSAT needs.

The LSAT is purposefully designed to assess the skills required for the first year of law school. These skills include reading comprehension, reasoning, and writing. LSAT scores fall in a range between 120 to 180, with the median score being approximately 152. A median score, however, will not be enough to secure acceptance to a top-tier law school, and competitive scores generally fall in the 160s to 170s. The Law School Admission Council (LSAC) is the organization responsible for the administration of the LSAT, and they regularly track and report statistical information about those who take the test, analyzing their information as a whole while also dividing test-takers into subgroups. According to the LSAC, among the most respected law schools, successful applicants have an LSAT score in the 170s. In order to be competitive for the highest-ranking law schools, it is necessary to do well on the LSAT. We at Manhattan Review can help you master all sections of the test, improving your reading comprehension and reasoning abilities while also strengthening your critical writing skills.
If you are seeking to take your LSAT preparation to the next level, consider the established benefits of working with a private tutor, including but certainly not limited to personalized instruction, flexible meeting times, and opportunities for immediate and targeted feedback on those questions that are most challenging to you. We have secured the services of skilled instructors with strong legal and educational backgrounds who are intent on helping others achieve their own individual success in order to live the life they want. There's no need to waste your limited and valuable time attempting to piece together your own study plan, hoping you are focusing on the most relevant information. Meet a Berkeley LSAT Tutor: Kenneth J.
Kenneth J. has always been fascinated by words and language and can't remember a time when he wasn't losing himself in any book, newspaper, brochure, or other written document he could get his hands on. "I read all the time as a kid, and I just thought it was the most amazing thing how so many people could use basically the same words but create entirely different sentences, paragraphs, and stories." Kenneth found himself drawn to the rules of grammar and punctuation, enjoying the sense of order and predictability they conferred and liking the idea of there being a standardized way to write things "even if it was also okay to deviate from that standard way once in a while." In high school, Kenneth started out as a contributing reporter to his school's newspaper before working his way up to an editorial position in addition to writing a column about the most common mistakes students make when it comes to writing. Kenneth won numerous awards for his own short stories, essays, and research papers, and it wasn't long before he helped establish a peer tutoring program specifically for students struggling with English and writing assignments. "I loved helping others learn the finer points of the English language," he recalls, "and seeing someone go from an idea to an outline to multiple paragraphs to a complete story or conclusion was so rewarding to me."
Kenneth grew up in New Orleans and thanks to his hard work and dedication (and an impressive ACT score), he was accepted to Tulane University, where he double majored in English and education. During a seminar in his sophomore year, Kenneth had the opportunity to attend a lecture by a visiting guest professor who also happened to be a lawyer specializing in mergers, acquisitions, and contract negotiation. Kenneth was ecstatic to learn that there was a job that required someone to care about the inclusion or exclusion of every single word and instantly knew the direction he wanted his professional future to take. "That's when I knew what I wanted to do for a living…I was going to be a lawyer! Not like on tv, arguing in a courtroom and trying to convince a jury about something, but someone who made things run smoothly behind the scenes, ensuring all parties involved with a project were happy with the final outcome and that any necessary documents could stand up to intense scrutiny." Kenneth had continued working part-time as a tutor during his time at Tulane, but he temporarily shifted to being tutored himself, working with a private tutor to prepare for the LSAT. "I knew I needed help to master the most effective test-taking strategies, in addition to really grasping how best to pace myself over such an important test," he shares. Kenneth's diligence and focus paid off and were rewarded with an impressively high LSAT score, allowing him to select the law school that best suited him and his career goals. Kenneth ultimately chose to attend Columbia University, recognized around the world for their contracts and commercial law program, and while he'd never lived outside of Louisiana before, Kenneth was excited to move to New York City and immerse himself in a brand-new culture.
After graduating from Columbia, Kenneth received multiple employment opportunities and he chose to relocate again, accepting a position on the West Coast in Berkeley. He appreciated the flexibility of the position, which frequently allowed him to work from home, in addition to offering him the chance to mentor newer lawyers and provide continuing education workshops to help those at the firm improve their own writing. Kenneth settled into his new position beautifully, but after a few years of corporate success, he began to miss the tutoring experiences he'd enjoyed so much during high school and college. With years of formal and informal tutoring experience behind him, Kenneth was excited to learn of an opening at Manhattan Review's Berkeley office, and he was quickly welcomed to the team. The students who work with Kenneth appreciate his real-world experience, as well as his ability to maintain sight of the bigger picture while also noticing important details. When he isn't preparing future law students for their own legal success, Kenneth can be found swimming in the mornings at his local gym, taking his mountain bike into the nearby Oakland hills, and attending outdoor concerts at the Greek Theater with friends.
