Are you a Durban-based student seeking to obtain the highest score possible on the Law School Admission Test (LSAT)? If you are searching for the most effective and comprehensive LSAT preparation resources, look no further than the test prep experts at Manhattan Review. At Manhattan Review, our world-class instructors know just how to help you prepare for this potentially life-changing exam, and we offer a variety of LSAT preparation options certain to provide you with the support you need. When it comes to studying complex information, many students do perfectly well learning in classroom-style group settings, enjoying a sense of comradery and using their peers' questions as a springboard for increasing their own knowledge and comprehension. Other students, however, know they do not perform to their full capacity in the company of others. They worry about holding the group back and feel anxious about slowing the group down; alternatively, they may experience frustration if they have mastered a particular concept but must wait to move on until others in the group have similarly mastered the information. If you know you learn best in an environment where you are able to work at your own pace, without the distractions posed by a group learning format, we encourage you to contact us today to learn more about our private tutoring options.

When it comes to preparing for an important exam, many students know that one-on-one attention is the most useful way for them to grasp and retain information. There is no reason to leave anything to chance when it comes to preparing for the LSAT, and there is also no need to attempt to piece together your own study plan, hoping you are covering the most relevant material. At Manhattan Review, our knowledgeable tutors have deconstructed the LSAT and analyzed every question in every section, and we look forward to creating a customized program of study unique to you and your LSAT needs. Our private tutoring programs are targeted, focusing on the areas where you need the most support, as well as comprehensive, ensuring you understand the LSAT inside out and are not surprised by anything on the day of your exam. Our tutors have extensive experience with a variety of standardized exams, including the LSAT, having obtained their own impressive test scores, but we do not only hire exceptional test-takers…we hire exceptional instructors with strong backgrounds in education, learning theory, and student success.

The LSAT is purposefully designed to assess the skills required for the first year of law school. These skills include reading comprehension, reasoning, and writing. LSAT scores fall in a range between 120 to 180, with the median score being approximately 152. A median score, however, will not be enough to secure acceptance to a top-tier law school, and competitive scores generally fall in the 160s to 170s. The Law School Admission Council (LSAC) is the organization responsible for the administration of the LSAT, and they regularly track and report statistical information about those who take the test, analyzing their information as a whole while also dividing test-takers into subgroups. According to the LSAC, among the most respected law schools, successful applicants have an LSAT score in the 170s. In order to be competitive for the highest-ranking law schools, it is necessary to do well on the LSAT. We at Manhattan Review can help you master all sections of the test, improving your reading comprehension and reasoning abilities while also strengthening your critical writing skills.

Meet a Durban LSAT Tutor: Eden W.

Eden W. has loved words for as long as she can remember, and from an early age, she often attempted to win arguments with her brother or parents by recalling the exact words they had said and using them in her favor. "It used to drive my brother crazy," she laughs, "because I'd use his own words against him and he'd say, ‘That's not what I meant!' and I'd remind him, ‘But that's what you said.' That's when I started to realize the power of words." Eden liked the rules of grammar and punctuation and appreciated that there was an order to language, even if certain rules could occasionally be broken. At her high school, she worked her way up from a contributing reporter to the editor of the newspaper, in addition to writing a column about common writing mistakes her peers found incredibly helpful. It wasn't long before Eden helped found a peer tutoring program, offering help to classmates who didn't find writing as enjoyable as she did. "I had no idea how much I'd enjoy helping others with their writing," admits Eden, "but I knew I wanted a career that somehow involved words and using them to make the world a better place."

Eden grew up in Mississippi and thanks to her high grades and a very impressive ACT score, she was accepted to Auburn University, where she double majored in English and education. During an extra-credit seminar her sophomore year, she had the chance to attend a lecture by a visiting professor who was also a lawyer specializing in mergers, acquisitions, and contract negotiations. Eden was thrilled to learn there was a job that revered language and words as much as she did. "That's when I knew I wanted to be a lawyer," she smiles. "Not the kind arguing in front of a jury, but the kind who makes sure everyone agrees on a document so a project can move forward." Eden had been working as a tutor at her university's learning center, but in order to prepare for the LSAT, she enrolled in a group prep course. "I didn't want to be surprised by anything," she shares, "and I wanted to make sure I knew how to manage my time." Eden's focus and determination were rewarded with an impressively high LSAT score, earning her numerous offers of admission from prestigious law programs across the United States. She ultimately chose to attend Columbia University, respected around the world for their contracts and commercial law program. While it would be very different from where she'd grown up, Eden was thrilled to experience more of the world and packed her suitcases.

After graduating from Columbia, Eden received numerous offers of employment from law firms around the world, and she ultimately accepted a position with a firm that specialized in contract law between international academic research institutions. Eden settled into her new position and did quite well for herself, but after a few years, she began to miss the sense of personal fulfillment she'd enjoyed while tutoring others. When a chance to work in her firm's Durban office presented itself, Eden happily relocated, and when she learned Manhattan Review had a local office, she reached out about the possibility of helping students prepare for the LSAT. We were happy to welcome her to the team, and Eden's students appreciate her connections, as well as her extensive legal and tutoring experience. When Eden isn't helping future lawyers ace the LSAT, she can be found reading to elementary school students as part of a local after-school volunteer program, going on photography safaris as often as possible, and hosting visiting family members from the United States.
