Growing up in the nearby suburbs of Kansas City, Russ didn't take an interest in his academic performance until he decided to become a lawyer. Shortly after, Russ became an academic superstar, graduating among the top of his class before acing the SAT to enter the prestigious pre law program at Park University and then later the LSAT to attend the highly respected law program at University of Missouri-Kansas City. Upon graduating, Russ received an opportunity to work out-of-state at a friend's established law firm, which he initially enjoyed. However, when his wife received a job offer that would bring their family back to the "Paris of the Plains," Russ decided to switch gears and teach law at this new juncture in his career. Soon after moving back to his hometown, Russ found an opportunity at Manhattan Review to become an LSAT private tutor.
