Students accepted to elite universities almost invariably have high test scores. At the University of Pennsylvania, one of America's most selective schools, about 57% of the most recent entering class opted for the SAT (Penn, like most universities in the United States, will accept either the SAT or the ACT). Among these students, 75% scored at least 680 on SAT critical reading, 690 on SAT writing, and 700 on SAT math. Penn students with SAT scores below 600 on any section of the exam represented a tiny portion of the student population (less than 3%), and these applicants likely had some advantage in the admissions process (all elite universities accept students from families that they believe will make large donations). At Manhattan Review, we urge our clients to set target scores above the median for their preferred schools, because these scores will be helpful to the applicant's prospects. In most cases, lower test scores have a negative effect, even if the student's other credentials are impressive.
The advantages of Manhattan Review's SAT instruction in Kiev and other major world cities have been repeatedly demonstrated by acceptance to highly selective schools. Among the postsecondary institutions to which our SAT clients have been admitted are the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Johns Hopkins, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Brown, the University of Pennsylvania, Carnegie Mellon, the University of Chicago, the University of Texas, the University of Michigan, Georgetown, Vanderbilt, the California Institute of Technology, and many more. Our students' efforts are eventually rewarded with successful careers. Many past Manhattan Review SAT clients now work for Fortune 500 companies, including State Farm Insurance, CVS Health, Prudential Financial, Bank of America, Walgreens Boots Alliance, Berkshire Hathaway, and World Fuel Services. Some former Manhattan Review clients are currently employed by firms in Kiev, such as InvestUkraine, Naftogaz, State Savings Bank of Ukraine, Ukrtelecom, and Ukrainian Automobile Corporation.
