Most universities in the United States issue reports on each new class of entering students, known as the "common data set." These reports provide some general information on the testing performance of these students. The University of Michigan, for example, notes that 63% of the most recent class elected to submit SAT scores (most U.S. universities will accept either the SAT or the ACT for undergraduate admission). Among new Michigan students who took the SAT, the middle-50% score range (the 25th through the 75th percentiles) was 660-730 Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) and 670-780 Math. About 55% of these Michigan students received EBRW scores of 700 or above and about two-thirds scored 700 or above in Math. Michigan acceptance rates were clearly quite low for students with SAT section scores below 600; students in this category constituted less than 6% of the class with respect to EBRW scores and 9% of the class in terms of Math scores (and many of these students were likely in a special category, such as athletes or children of potential donors). Students or parents interested in reviewing testing data for a given school can usually find that institution's common data set easily online.

I like his walkthrough of the problems. Also the strategies he gave. It helped me improve my English and writing. I went up on my SAT scores.

"My students quite literally taught me how to be the best teacher I can be," she says.
Irena is a graduate of the University of Maryland (Bachelor of Arts in English) and Boston University (Master of Arts in teaching). She has been teaching SAT prep courses and private tutoring for Manhattan Review in Warsaw and in New York since 2009.
