My classes with Mr. Scheno were perfect to prepare for the actual TOEFL test – I can give my total recommendation for attending his classes. During our first appopintment he analyzed my strengths and weaknesses to set up my personal course syllabus. These customized classes improved my writing, speaking, reading and listening abilities a lot and raised my confidence to succeed the TOEFL test, which I in fact succeeded. At any time, Mr. Scheno responded rapidly and accurately to my questions and was available even beyond classes. It was a great and successfull experience to work with Mr. Scheno. Many thanks!

Meet a Bangkok TOEFL Tutor: Yan Lin H.
Yan Lin graduated from Yale with a B.A. in International Economics and Spanish along with an already growing roster of tutoring gigs. Perhaps her unique ability to grasp language arts skills made tutoring such an obvious role for her. Or, it could be owed to her contagious sense of humor and solid teaching skills. As part of her undergraduate program, Yan Lin went overseas to teach English as a second language. In Spain, she was a live-in tutor for a semester, where she taught English to the family's four children. They all brought home better grades, which delighted their parents.
Yan Lin credits her highly competitive TOEFL results to her love of dabbling in foreign languages. She explains that all the Romance languages have the same roots, and by being fluent in Spanish and French, she has learned how to figure out the meanings of innumerable English-language derivatives as well. This elastic knowledge of language helps Yan Lin to not only expand her vocabularies in several languages but also effectively communicate with her class.
Yan Lin worked at our Hong Kong office for several years, helping students achieve top scores on the TOEFL exam and utilizing her own native language to connect with her classroom. Since then, she has moved to Thailand since her husband was relocating for his business. Here, Yan Lin has continued to work with Manhattan Review, tutoring students for the TOEFL and putting her world-class knowledge and experience to work for those hoping to study beyond the borders of where they grew up.
