TOEFL Tutoring in Berlin

Thorough preparation for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) will make many aspects of university life easier. In addition to the academic benefits, students with solid English-language skills will more effectively integrate themselves into the social and professional communities of their new countries. Manhattan Review is an international educational services company that has been offering rigorous, accessible, and convenient TOEFL prep services since 1999. Berlin students can choose either our TOEFL classroom instruction or our TOEFL private tutoring. TOEFL prep classes are available at convenient Berlin locations or in online interactive format, and TOEFL private tutoring accommodates individual student schedules at mutually agreeable sites. Manhattan Review's customized private tutoring teaches each student the TOEFL content and test-taking strategies that are most appropriate for that student, using a highly original method of test prep that focuses on macro-level understanding of the TOEFL rather than micro-level rote learning. Contact us today, and we'll be happy to tell you all about our TOEFL services for Berlin students.

Some universities in the English-speaking world allow international students to take the TOEFL in place of other general undergraduate admissions exams such as the SAT Reasoning Test or ACT. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology is one school that gives non-native English speakers this option, although international applicants to MIT should note that all students must take the SAT subject tests. TOEFL standards at MIT are determined by specific departments, but they are generally in the higher range. PhD students in the Sloan School of Management must score at least a 90, and MIT's Operations Research Center mandates a score of 100 or better from its graduate students. Pennsylvania State University requires the SAT or ACT from all undergraduate applicants, but international students may waive the writing assessments on these tests if they meet institutional English-language proficiency benchmarks with a TOEFL score of 80 or better. Manhattan Review's TOEFL prep courses and private tutoring can assist international students with more than just their TOEFL requirements.

Manhattan Review's TOEFL prep services have helped thousands of students satisfy the TOEFL requirements of their chosen degree programs at selective schools such as Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, the University of London, Princeton, Brown, Columbia, the University of Melbourne, and Georgetown. The academic success of our students leads to later professional success, and we frequently see our former clients get hired by the world's top private and public sector organizations. Some of these graduates have entered the business world and become essential employees of Fortune 500 companies such as General Electric, Microsoft, JP Morgan Chase, and Morgan Stanley, or of Berlin firms such as Gegenbauer, the Dussmann Group, Axel Springer, and Siemens. Others have chosen to work for the public, as educators, researchers, civil servants, or philanthropists. Whatever you wish to accomplish, Manhattan Review's TOEFL prep courses and private tutoring in Berlin will help you get started.

Meet a Berlin TOEFL Tutor: Samir M.

Samir M., who was born and raised near Cairo, Egypt, has been a TOEFL tutor since 2009. He is also a former Manhattan Review client, using our customized TOEFL tutoring to score a 110 on the test. He holds a bachelor's degree in education from Saint Joseph's University and a master's degree in English literature from Penn State. Before moving to Berlin in 2012, he was a high school English teacher in a New Jersey suburb of Philadelphia, and he also taught remedial English courses at one of the state's public universities.

Samir's professional experience has taught him a good deal about the consequences of poor TOEFL preparation. "As someone who has been the instructor for the types of English classes required of students who can't pass the TOEFL, I know how inconvenient these courses can be," he says. "I tell everyone that TOEFL prep is worth the effort. Every hour of TOEFL prep is probably the equivalent of four hours of remedial English. It’s a great way to save yourself time and money, and more importantly, improve your overall academic performance."
