The four components of the TOEFL assessment are reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Total score and subscore requirements can vary widely by institution, and there can also be a variety of requirements at the divisional, departmental, and even degree program levels within those institutions. To cite just one example, the listening subscore requirement at Boston University is only an 18, compared to 22 each for reading and writing and 23 speaking. Carnegie Mellon University, conversely, apparently views speaking as the least important subscore, with a minimum of 18 (while mandating 22 on all of the other TOEFL sections). Degree level is often also a consideration, and it is not uncommon for graduate students to have higher or lower TOEFL requirements than undergraduates. Manhattan Review's TOEFL private tutoring and TOEFL prep courses in Brussels teach our students how to master test content, study techniques, and testing strategies for maximum score results and skill improvements. Our TOEFL instruction will help you succeed in your university coursework and open up opportunities for you to pursue a career in the English-speaking world.
Adverse consequences for substandard TOEFL scores can be severe, ranging from outright rejection of an applicant to requiring him or her to take an expensive and time-consuming remedial English course. Manhattan Review students consistently avoid these penalties by excelling on the TOEFL, allowing them to accept admission offers to top schools such as Cambridge, Oxford, Harvard, Princeton, the London School of Economics, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Johns Hopkins, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Pennsylvania, Carnegie Mellon, the University of California-Berkeley, Dartmouth, Brown, and many more. A large number of Manhattan Review's TOEFL clients from Brussels and other cities around the world are now employed by Fortune 500 companies (including Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, New York Life Insurance, World Fuel Services, and Lockheed Martin) and Brussels firms (including TCR International, Belgian Investment Company for Developing Countries, AG Insurance, Brussels Regional Investment Company, and Belga). Manhattan Review's TOEFL prep courses and private tutoring in Brussels will help you pass the TOEFL and transition into university study in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, or any other English-speaking country.

My classes with Mr. Scheno were perfect to prepare for the actual TOEFL test – I can give my total recommendation for attending his classes. During our first appopintment he analyzed my strengths and weaknesses to set up my personal course syllabus. These customized classes improved my writing, speaking, reading and listening abilities a lot and raised my confidence to succeed the TOEFL test, which I in fact succeeded. At any time, Mr. Scheno responded rapidly and accurately to my questions and was available even beyond classes. It was a great and successfull experience to work with Mr. Scheno. Many thanks!
