Meet a Dayton TOEFL Tutor: Dev R.

Dev R. was born in Chennai, India, and lived there for the first thirteen years of his life until his mother accepted a position with a large software company in Silicon Valley. Dev loved working with computers and quickly learned how to create his own app-based games and programs. Dev worked very hard while at his competitive high school and obtained an impressive ACT score, which allowed him to attend the University of Pennsylvania, where he majored in computer science. After graduating, Dev went on to obtain a master's degree in computer science, as well as a TESOL certificate, from the University of Southern California. After graduating, he was very happy to accept a position with a large non-profit organization focused on improving access to technology in underserved areas around the world.

Dev traveled the world for more than ten years, living in India, Taiwan, and China before eventually settling in Dayton, where his wife was offered an exciting career opportunity. Although he loved his work with computers, he also enjoyed helping others learn, and he knew firsthand how important a strong grasp of the English language could be. Dev soon joined the team at Manhattan Review, and his students appreciate his clear explanations, as well as his calm and patient demeanor. When Dev isn't setting the next generation of college students up for their own successes, he can be found playing the guitar and playing pickup soccer games in a local park.
