Meet a Denver TOEFL Tutor: Isabelle G.
Just outside of Denver, Isabelle grew up in a family of professional chefs and cooks, so it was a foregone conclusion that she would also eventually embark on a career in the culinary arts. However, coming from a family that mostly spoke French in the home, she was fluent in French, but had to learn to master English. Her experience would later help her to forge an understanding and bond with students who grew up in similar circumstances, homes where English wasn't the primary language spoken.
Before entering the esteemed culinary arts program at The Art Institute of Colorado in Denver, Isabelle made two attempts before scoring a near perfect score on the TOEFL exam to gain admission into her school and program of choice. She soon learned that although her French background was an asset in the culinary world, being able to master the English language would help propel her career much higher. This became evident to Isabelle upon her graduation from The Art Institute of Colorado and being hiring at one of the top restaurants in the country. Initially, her position was entry level, but over the course of eight years, Isabelle was able to earn the respect of her peers and management, who were eager to promote over the years.
Today, Isabelle is the head chef of her own French cuisine restaurant, but she makes time to give back to the Denver community. After happening upon the Manhattan Review Denver location five years ago, Isabelle joined the elite team of professional TOEFL tutors. Isabelle takes great pride in being a part of our program, as she often relays to students, because it gives her a chance to employ the tools and resources that she has learned over the years to help up and coming professionals succeed beyond even her level of success, by first, mastering the English language.
