TOEFL Tutoring in Ghent

Are you a student in the Ghent area seeking to obtain the highest score possible on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)? If you are searching for the most effective and comprehensive TOEFL prep resources, look no further than the standardized test prep professionals at Manhattan Review. If you are not a native English speaker or English is not your first language, you will want to utilize every possible resource to ensure you achieve a very high test score. When it comes to preparing for the TOEFL, many students enjoy learning in classroom-style group courses, finding their peers' questions or comments insightful. Other students, however, know they do not perform at their best when attempting to learn challenging information in a group setting. They worry about slowing the group down or holding them back because they need to work at a slower pace. Alternatively, these students may feel bored or frustrated once they have mastered a subject but must wait for the rest of the group to demonstrate similar mastery before moving on. If you know you learn best through one-on-one instruction where you set the pace, consider working with one of the experienced private tutors at Manhattan Review.

Meet a Ghent TOEFL Tutor: Marcia J.

Marcia J. was born in Singapore and lived there for the first thirteen years of her life until her family relocated to the United States. Marcia knew just how important a thorough understanding of written and spoken English could be, and she hoped to one day help others master this notoriously difficult language. Marcia worked very hard in high school and obtained an impressive ACT score, and she chose to attend the University of Pennsylvania, where she majored in English. During her undergrad, she worked for six semesters as a tutor in the university's learning center. After graduating, Marcia went on to earn a master's degree in education, as well as a TESOL certificate, from the University of California at San Diego. After graduating, she was excited to accept a position with a non-profit organization focused on improving students' knowledge of English.

Marcia taught English in different countries for more than ten years, including Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, and India before getting married and settling in her husband's hometown of Ghent. When she learned Manhattan Review had a local office in the city, she applied for a rare tutoring position and was swiftly welcomed to the team. Her students appreciate her clear explanations and extensive teaching experience, as well as her patience. When Marcia isn't setting the next generation of college students up for their own successes, she can be found fencing and working on learning her fourth language.
