When it comes to preparing for the TOEFL, many students enjoy learning in group settings, finding their peers' questions or comments insightful. Other students, however, know they do not perform at their best when attempting to learn challenging information in a group setting. They may worry about slowing the group down because they need to work at a slower pace. Alternatively, these students may feel bored or frustrated once they have mastered a subject but must wait for the rest of the group to demonstrate similar mastery before moving on. Meet a Milan TOEFL Tutor: Stavros G.
Stavros G. was born in Athens and lived there for the first twelve years of his life until his mother accepted a position with a large software company in Austin. Stavros knew firsthand the importance of understanding written and spoken English, and he hoped to eventually help others master this notoriously difficult language. Stavros worked very hard in high school and obtained an impressive ACT score, which allowed him to attend Princeton University, where he majored in English. During his undergrad program, he worked for four semesters as a tutor in the university's learning center. After graduating, Stavros went on to obtain a master's degree in teaching, as well as a TESOL certificate, from the University of California at San Diego. After graduating, he accepted a position with a large non-profit organization focused on improving students' knowledge of English around the world.
Stavros taught English in different countries for more than ten years, including Cambodia, Vietnam, Croatia, and Italy before getting married and settling in his wife's hometown of Milan. When he learned Manhattan Review had opened a local office in the city, he applied for a tutoring position and was almost immediately welcomed to the team. His students appreciate his clear explanations and extensive teaching experience as well as his patient demeanor. When Stavros isn't setting the next generation of college students up for their own successes, he can be found playing badminton with friends and jogging with his wife.
