The TOEFL exam contains four separate sections - reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The scale of the results is from 0 to 120 with an average score of 82. Some schools require a specific total score to gain acceptance, while others have a minimum score for particular or all individual sections of the exam. Any score above 82 should be enough to enter many US colleges and universities. However, the highly selective schools will expect a score around or above 100 for acceptance. Meet a Sao Paulo TOEFL Tutor: Scarlet H.

Scarlet H., a native English-speaking tutor from Kansas, has 8 years of tutoring experience, 4 of which she has from working as a Manhattan Review instructor in Sao Paulo. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology and History from University of Michigan, and a Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies from Columbia University. Her international experience and proficiency in English has helped many students to get accepted in prestigious schools all around the globe.

Scarlet is an open minded and flexible tutor, working with mainly international students online. Apart from that, she also has a lot of experience with local students and leading our group classes in the city. Working as a full-time history teacher in a local elite school helps her be closer to students' needs and know how to improve their language skills for a shorter period of time. Outside of teaching and tutoring, Scarlet likes to play with her children outdoors and go on different museums' exhibitions and tours with her family.
