Meet a St. Louis TOEFL Tutor: Claudine H.
Claudine finished her undergrad at Missouri State University with a B.A. in International Economics and Spanish with a growing rosters of tutoring jobs. Between her unique ability to filter and recall language arts skills, tutoring has been an obvious role for her. Students also note her solid teaching skills and contagious smile in their end of course evaluations. During her time in undergrad, Claudine was taken abroad on a program to teach English as a second language. While she was in Spain, she taught two high school boys as the family's live-in tutor. She was able to help boost their grades, making their parent's proud!
Taking the TOEFL herself and achieve competitive results, Claudine gives the test credit for her love of dabbling in foreign languages. She learned early on that all Romance languages are derived from Latin; and that by becoming fluent in Spanish as well as French, she has learned how to "guess" the definitions of numerous English-language derivatives. Her elastic understanding of language has been beneficial in helping her communicate effectively with her classes as well as expand her vocabulary in several languages. Claudine enjoys watching none other than foreign language films and even cites "Amelie" and "The Motorcycle Diaries" as two of her all time favorites. Claudine is always on the look out for the next new film and visits the Sundance festival each year.
